It all began with an idea…
I’ve been a family portrait photographer in Las Vegas since 2013, and I’ve truly loved every moment of it. While I have no plans to step away from that world, adding sports photography felt like a natural next step—especially after bringing my camera to capture some my sons’ games and really enjoying it. I had an idea to try out some cool pics for social media. That’s when I decided to do “Sportraits” —a fun play on words that blends sports and portraits.
I stumbled upon some TikTok videos of photographers experimenting with fire, and my curiosity took over. After a deep dive into how to do it safely, I grabbed my gear and called for the kids to suit up. Cue the protests: “Mom, whyyyy? It’s not game day!” and “I don’t want to take pictures!” I call this Photographer’s Kid Syndrome. 😒 But with a little convincing—and some reluctant help from my husband (who thought I was crazy for wanting to light my kid’s bat on fire)—I made it happen. And the result? Some of the coolest photos I’ve ever taken!
